1.1 Background

The Faculty of Psychology and Human Movement Science at the University of Hamburg is planning the introduction of a digital and data protection-compliant subject database. The data protection-compliant subject database “Castellum”, developed at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development Berlin (MPIB), was selected as the technical solution. In June 2023, a task force was set up, which is made up of members of the faculty and promotes the implementation of Castellum at the faculty.

The establishment of a subject database is one of the goals of the digital strategy of the Faculty of Psychology and Human Movement Science (see here; in German):

“We are optimizing the digital recruitment of study participants. We have access to a broadly defined participant database or platform through which participants can be recruited according to specific criteria. We clarify the requirements for a platform for online studies, view and evaluate alternative systems and ensure technical integration.”
