About

The Research Data Management & Open Science working group at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development in Berlin deals with questions of institutionalized, cross-departmental research data management. It is composed across organizational units and was established by the Board of Directors in 2018.

Research data management is understood here as the process of managing research data throughout its entire life cycle, from planning, data collection, selection, analysis and storage to data editing for possible subsequent use. For this purpose, the Research Data Management & Open Science working group, together with the institute’s employees, develops a strategy and concrete solutions and accompanies their sustainable implementation and further development.

With respect to Open Science, the working group deals in particular with the possibilities and limits of making research data accessible to third parties. Its aim is to support the implementation of such practices in day-to-day research by organizing hands-on workshops.

The members of the working group come from different fields (IT, Library and Research Information, Research Departments).
